It’s been over a week since we learned the outcome of Election Day and people all over the world have responded with shock. Catharsis Productions has tried to stay neutral throughout the elections and respect everyone’s choice and opinion on who should be the next President of the United States. We can’t deny, however, that our mission is to create a culture of respect, equality and inclusivity. We are here to eradicate interpersonal violence, sexual violence specifically. So we can’t let it slide and we won’t. We will fight even harder and speak even louder.

Educator Profile: Cara Thaxton

Today we want to introduce our beloved Cara Thaxton, who besides serving as the manager of program development at Catharsis Productions, she is also one of our educators. Cara has over fifteen years of experience working for social justice and her work earned her the 2003 Advocate of the Year award from the State's Attorney's Office. Cara has educated thousands of individuals, from elementary school students to the media, on rape prevention and intervention, with a special focus on the LGBTQ community and hate crimes.

What's normal and what should't be normal?

We are all aware there is a big problem in our culture – it is no coincidence that we hear more often about crimes driven by hatred and intolerance, unpunished sexual assault offenders, and violence in general. I believe the big problem is that our culture is normalizing toxic behaviors.
